Siliken solar panels have once again come out on top in a yield measurement test series done by the Photon Magazine. This is a respected publication that does plenty of research in the photovoltaics sector where it is a definite global authority. The feat is remarkable in the sense that the measurements were done daily for a period of a year. Moreover, the modules were all exposed to the same set of environmental conditions in a single test field.
In the most recent test, a total of 47 modules from 36 different manufacturers were tested for the total energy yield they produced. The publishers are always adding new modules every month, a factor that is always brought to bear in how the tests are carried out and the eventual ranking. To make provisions for reduction in efficiencies over time, the publishers ensure that modules installed at the same time are ranked together.
The published results in the recent test were for modules that had been installed by January 1st 2010 and were therefore measured throughout the 2010 testing period. The comparison tests for the year were more comprehensive than the 47 modules published but the ones installed later than the beginning of January were excluded for the sake of objectivity.
An independent analysis of the results reveals that the win by Siliken was notable in a number of senses. To begin with, the month on month data is important in evaluating the veracity of the power of each module tested. As many will agree, the true mark of a good solar module is one which performs adequately even in times of inclement weather.
The year 2010 witnessed a harsh winter period and all the modules in the test field were covered by snow. Even then, the data for Siliken was way above average. Actually, the modules recorded top ratings in eight months and were ranked second in one.
When the data was compiled to reflect performance over the entire year, two observations were clear with regard to Siliken solar panels. the difference between total yield of the Siliken module and the second was the biggest for any two sequential results in the top nine modules. the modules were also deemed to be more powerful than the average panel by more than 6.2% and by more than 13.1% than the lowest ranked module.
